Two reminder notices turned up in the mail
one for a pap smear
one for a mammogram
Can't have much more fun than that in one day can you?
I'm already sweating at the thought of it.
I've put them both at the bottom of my filing tray where I should be able to ignore them for about a week until I convince myself that I probably have an enormous tumour growing right at this moment that needs instant removal.

Ick. Those kind of appointments are the worst! Well, I am assuming the big M is unpleasant….I've got a few years before I have to worry about that part. It sucks that you had a double whammy of appointment reminders today, though. Shouldn't there be a rule against that or something?
Investigations topways and bottomways. No thanks. I don't even get reminders. I have to keep them on my mind until I get them overwith.
The mammograms aren't as bad as I was expecting – you hear such horror stories – its just the fact that a stranger is handling your breasts thats a bit weird, pap tests though, shudder, just the thought of one puts my blood pressure up
I like to forget about them for as long as possible. We have a register here so everyone gets a reminder – there's no escape.
My doctor has a sense of humor (and is thankfully a woman). She has an old Altoids magazine advertisement taped on the ceiling, right above your head. It is a kid with some pretty wicked headgear, and the title above him says "Brace Yourself". It doesn't make the experience any better, but I appreciate her effort!

i don't mind the mamms either… not even the part about a stranger doing it. couldn't care less. but the pap… oh, i HATE that! except the time i went to my gay doc, in stilettos & my own black robe, cause he was a good sport like that! when I told him "you better do something to make this less horrible" he told me, "lie back so I can check your rack", then gave me a nipple flick. totally lightened my mood!
lol, well I don't have quite that experience, but I do have a very nice scottish nurse with a great sense of humour
I don't think we get reminders here – at least I don't. They also do the paps every year here instead of every 2 or 3 (?) you have.
Every two years for paps – I guess you could have one every year if you wanted to but they send out the notice every 2nd.
Yes I thought I remembered that I only got them every 2 or 3 years there. Here they like you to do it every year – I don't like it! I have a mammo every year. Probably a good idea because of mum.
