another aimless blog

yes, another blog to add to the millions out there already – but why not.

a life long love June 18, 2007

when I heard that our house could get flooded the first things I put up as high as I could were the photo albums. Besides that I only put three things on top of the wardrobe. This may be partly due to me being an optimist and not really thinking the water would come and partly due to me being stupid. But the three things I put out of dangers way were – Pink Teddy, Lulu and my book Teddy Edward at the seaside. Pink Teddy was given to me when I was born and I was¬† very attached to him and could spend hours lying in my cot twisting his blue ribbon around my toe until he flew out. Then I would scream until someone gave him back. Lulu came a few years later and I don’t remember being a real doll person but I thought she was about the coolest thing around. The teddy edward book is still worth a read. Teddy had an adventure at the beach with his little girl and they author took photos of teddy out on the rocks and in lobster pots and in a boat with his friends. It still gives me a laugh. So they are my life long loves which is the elsie challenge for this week.

billy blanks kicked my arse May 29, 2007

I always knew exercise was no good for you. And after doing a billy blanks bootcamp dvd yesterday I am further convinced of this. Today my back is right on that edge – right at the point where I can feel one wrong move will send me to the lounge for a few days, stuck in this funny (not ha ha) bent over crooked kind of way. Shame really because it really felt like it was toning and trimming as I did it.

In other news, I found this advert and I think my mother must have seen it once as well, as I don’t remember sunscreen being a regular part of my childhood. And I definitely made friends with the sun. And as a result I now get to make friends with my sun damaged skin.

the kings cross wax works May 2, 2007

how cool was that place. We went there a few times when I was a kid and I loved it. I particularly liked the guy being tortured on the rack and the shark attack scene. We went to kings cross for a few family holidays. It was so exciting. Seeing the fountain and the ice cream shop. All the strip clubs. This was in the 70’s and it seemed very glamorous to me. I think we went so dad could go to the cricket. So I was pleased to find this packet of matches and she has become my favourite. I’ve made her into a coaster and she shall be mine. Daz says she looks a “bit rough”. But thats exactly what I like about her. She hasn’t been airbrushed or photoshopped, she hasn’t got fake boobs and she looks like she¬†wouldn’t take crap from anyone. What you see is what you get. The backgrounds a bit grubby so I’ll fix that. Go girl
