the man behind the camera

I found some photos of Papa. Of Papas slidebox fame. So now you can see who the photographer was.

Here he is – as usual with a camera. Hardly saw him without one.

And here he is with Nan on their wedding day.

And here he is with my mother – standing at the back, and her sister. Here he's in his army uniform. He and his brother, hammy, were farmers and because during the war continuing with farm production was so important, they were told that only one of them would have to join the army. So my mother recalls there were long, late discussions about which one would go and in the end it was decided that Papa would go. When he arrived at Cooma I think it was, for training, they discovered that he was very handy with a rifle. So he got to stay there and teach the other guys how to shoot.
