Redwood Section – Papa’s Slidebox May 13, 2009

This is pretty cool. Papa took this in 1957.

You need to go to the full size picture then zoom in and read the little yellow tags. They are a timeline for this 800 year old tree. It lived through a lot of history.

    I've seen "demarcated" trees like this in my travels and like 'em, the markers bring perspective and are more interesting than a sign reading "this tree is 10,000 years old" (though of course that's impressive as well!).

    I haven't seen one myself. But it is amazing to think that it stood there for all those years, through so much.

  7. I have visited the Redwood forest a few times now. It is crazy how huge those trees are.

  10. North California. If you ever travel here, that is a must see. It is Beautiful!
