It's Election Day! How was your voting experience?

Well yes, it was fantastic thanks. Of course I live in Australia, so I didn't have a vote today, but even though we hate to admit it, whatever happens in America affects us in the end. Little old australia, stuck here like a wart on the arse of the world. lol. I just finished reading a book (by an australian author) and he put it beautifully. He said Australia is like an old lady who dies in her apartment and no one even realises she's been missing until six weeks later.

Anyway the point is that I'm sick of the election. Obama won. great. Now, lets get on with it. When it all comes down to it, in my day to day life, it all means jack shit.

What does mean jack shit to me are the basics. You know most people just go along, living their lives, and they don't understand that it's getting back to basics  that really counts. Until you realise that, nothing else is ever going to matter.

I listened to an interview a couple of years ago with Dr Jane Goodall. I've listened to it a few times since. She makes more sense to me than any politician I'm ever going to hear. If you don't know who she is then look her up.

If there's one thing you should do today, it's listen to this interview. Sure it goes for a while, but just play it in the background while you're wasting your time doing other crap. Just play it in the background while your surfing the net, or cooking dinner, or laying on the lounge. Just play it and listen to it.

This is what it's all about. This is where it happens. She is the person who gives me hope. This interview was done by Andrew Denton on Enough Rope. (An australian show).

Talk about Make It Count.

Maybe I'm Australian and don't know it because I feel the same way. So Obama won. So what. Not gonna affect my day-to-day life. Can he or Bush or any president get me a job? No. Besides, what Americans fail to realize is that it's not the president who dictates the direction of the country but Congress.

  2. I feel that the rest of the world has got some equality back, that maybe now America will now no longer jack boot its way around the world and dictate what will be. I do think it matters.

  3. cat Says:

Maybe, maybe not – but its not going to matter much if people as individuals keep living in the selfish, violent, destructive way that they do.

  4. cat Says:

lol – maybe – do you find yourself saying g'day a lot?

  5. true, but that isn't up to govenrments that is up to each individual and their choices

  6. cat Says:

and individuals aren't going to change unless they are educated about a better and kinder way to live on this earth. I'm just saying that there are people out there with things to say that we should be listening to. Things that we could and should be doing that will have a more immediate effect on our day to day lives and future.

lol. not yet. i do say it in a number of foreign languages. i'm adept at languages. there's room for aussie speak.

Jane Goodall has been my hero for 40 years.
She's profoundly smart and sensible but her heart must be a big as the day is long.
One of the most important women of the last century, without question.

  9. cat Says:

definitely – a wonderful wonderful soul and her heart must have felt like breaking so many times over the years
