What's your favorite type of donut?

We don't really do donuts here in Australia. Not really our thing. In fact the first Krispy Kreme shop only opened here a few years ago. That was at Penrith near the football stadium. There was a football game on that day and they had to hold off starting the game because the crowd were all over at the Krispy Kreme shop.

So I probably only have a donut every few years (don't we spell it with a gh here?). And when that happens I like it to be a plain warm cinnamon sugar one. All that jam and cream and icing and extra crap – I don't get it.

    its spelt doughnut… we americans are just to damn lazy to spell it right… i love the chocolate covered peanunt butter cream ones… i had that about 2 1/2 years ago… so you can see how much i eat doughnuts…

    no – the only thing we had that sounds like that is the famous cream bun. I didn't like them though – that mock cream was nasty. But I remember kids thinking it was pretty good if they got to have a meat pie and a cream bun for lunch.

    maybe i should move to down under 'cause i'm not a big fan either. a chocolate old-fashioned and a buttermilk a couple times a year and my quota's met. to the official spelling, primary is doughnut; donut is also acceptable.

    didn't realise there were so many options out there! Although I think in the case of a place like krispy kreme they give us different flavours than you guys get.

    I'm amazed doughnuts come in anything other than cinnamon, or plain with chocolate sprinkles.
    I'm partial to the occasional cinnamon, but they must be freshly cooked – once they go cold I'm not interested.

    yeah – once they go cold all that fat leaves a nasty coating around your mouth.

    I like the warm cinnamon just cooked ones – where you stand and watch them go along the little conveyor belt and drop into that white spinning thing with sugar and cinnamon in it. You can't get them here. I have tried a just-cooked krispy kreme one here but I didn't like it at all. You don't see any of the gingerbread men shaped ones here…. my kids always had one of them on shopping days.

    lol – are the cinnamon ones too plain over there. The gingerbread ones are from the pink shop aren't they – don't know the name – just know its pink

    They just don't have the same taste. Maybe it is the fat they are cooked in? Yes – the pink shop!

    The whole doughnut world. Actually the whole world of U.S. fast food is full of options. I was looking at the calorieking calorie counter and when I was looking at the US version there were a lot more junk foods.
