One of my favourites – Recycle Waste Paper. It's right up there with # 78 – photocopy on both sides. Which drives my kids nuts because they print out their school assignments and there's stuff all over the back. I tell them the teacher won't care and if she/he does, bad luck.

Just remember – THERE IS NO "AWAY" – when you throw something away it doesn't actually go away. Just away from you. It sits somewhere for thousands of year.

Fact – 421,000 tonnes of paper were consumed in Australia in 2004 – 2005.

Fact – It is estimated that 100 million trees are cut down every year to provide the paper used in Australian offices.

We're talking australia only here.

  1. We quite often print on both sides. If we get any A4 size junk mail with print on one side we use the other side. It drives us crazy when Ben uses fresh paper print out some of the rubbish he prints out some times. Oh I just remembered a story I can tell on some one else's blog about the silly things kids do. Fantastic I thought I would have to tell some of my own childhood efforts and blame them on one of our kids. Thank you for being my muse. In short Ben started his own pornography newsletter to sell at school, I think he made $20 one morning when he was in Year 7.

There was a recent blip on NPR about changing the margins on printers from the default – whatever they are – to 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch margins. Someone calculated that US businesses alone would use 100,000,000 fewer pieces of paper (or something like that – a really REALLY big number). I'm trying to search out the piece but it's eluding me.What a great – and simple – idea!

now thats amazing – how all those little margins add up!! See everyone just needs to think of those little things.

  4. cat Says:

gee I see you've had your coffee!! And you're going to tell a story on someone elses blog – is that like being a guest speaker??

  5. The story never got told due to the presence of another blogger on the blog in question – don't even ask!No coffee, not allowed to have coffee, I have black tea with one sugar, thank you 🙂
